The big news that AmaWaterways recently announced is that they will be building a new river cruise ship that will be the largest in Europe when it enters service in 2019.
The new ship will be called AmaMagna and it will sail popular itineraries along the Danube river.
AmaWaterways are hoping to attract regular ocean cruisers with this new vessel seeing as they are used to travelling on much larger ships than any of the river cruise vessels that exist in Europe today. In order to cater for these particular guests, AmaWaterways have decided to increase the width of the new vessel so it will be twice as wide as the current ships in their fleet.
Additionally, the staterooms onboard will be larger as well. The staterooms will be about 300 square feet, thereby maximising space and comfort for guests to enjoy. In terms of passenger numbers, the new ship will accommodate a total of 194 passengers, which is an increase of 34 guests compared to AmaWaterway’s current ships in their fleet.
Due to the increase in size of the ship, it will give guests a wider range of culinary options to choose from as there will be more restaurants onboard including al fresco dining. There will also be a large aft deck that will boast more than enough room for thrilling water activities including kayaks and jet skis. AmaMagna will maintain AmaWaterways reputation of providing exciting activities and tours for all of it’s guests who want to get “actively” involved.
The co-owner of AmaWaterways, Rudi Schreiner, commented: “AmaMagna will provide guests with generous personal space, the freedom of multiple dining choices and exceptional stateroom comfort.”
The majority of cruise guests nowadays tend to prefer slightly larger ships to travel through Europe’s beautiful rivers and AmaWaterways have responded to this trend perfectly by building AmaMagna. They may always look to build more than one “mega river ship” depending on the popularity of AmaMagna when it sets sail in 2019.
