On sale from today is Saga Cruises second new build ship The Spirit of Adventure. Saga has confirmed that the sister to the Spirit of Discovery will have its own style.
Whilst the Spirit of Adventure will be the same shape and size as her sister ship the Spirit of Discovery (set to launch in July 2019) their individual interior designs will create “separate identities” said Saga’s New Build Director David Pickett.
Saga has appointed London design agency AD Associates to provide the overall design for Spirit of Adventure. Nicola Preece, AD associates’ design director explained “The approach is bold and adventurous. eclectic, and with carefully curated use of colour, offering variation, big scale patterns, and a layered palette”.
At the heart of the ship will be The Living Room the area will feature a bar serving coffee, cakes, and gelato during the day and cocktails by night. The architectural design will be strong and angular with a sculptural staircase and a full height artwork backdrop.
The new addition to the ship the Khukuri House will feature traditional artwork and will serve authentic Nepalese cuisine which has been inspired by Gurkha heritage. A vibrant color palette will transfer to the furnishings and the artwork style of the region called madhabani, characterised by geometric patterns. There are subtle room dividers which have been influenced by the Nepalese fabric dhaka whilst the lighting pays homage to the traditional dress of Nepalese women.
The Amalfi will be a sophisticated space and will provide an authentic Italian experience from the moment that you step inside the restaurant. Design features will include marble, brass trimmed floor to ceiling wine cabinets a four-colour tiled floor, up lit screens and bold splashes of colour with red leather chairs.
The cabins onboard will be designed with three main styles, one which is calming, light and garden like echoing the elements of the British countryside with light timbers and a pastel green colour palette. The second will incorporate a sophisticated palette of greys and dark timbers, accented with pinks and oranges. The dark timber bed back panel will feature an upholstered headboard. The final style will be reminiscent of sunset scenes, calming neutral tones which are highlighted with warming burnt orange colours.
