The iconic Cunard flagship, RMS Queen Mary 2, has completed her maiden call to Kangaroo Island at Penneshaw in Australia.
Queen Mary 2’s call into Kangaroo Island establishes a new record for the largest ship ever to visit the stunning island.
Guests onboard Queen Mary 2 were able to make the most of their time in the South Australian Island by embarking on various shore excursions that take in the breathtaking sights that are on offer. The tours included Flinders Chase National Park, the “Remarkable Rocks”, Vivonne Bay, Cape Willoughby and Seal Bay Conservation Park. This allowed guests to sample local food and fully experience the Australian culture on the island.
The call into Kangaroo Island was part of a new itinerary where Queen Mary 2 sailed roundtrip from Melbourne for a short 5-night cruise, before she continues her spectacular world cruise navigating around the coast of Australia, the heart of Asia and finishing up in the Mediterranean.
This coming Saturday, Queen Mary 2 will rendezvous with Queen Elizabeth as Cunard celebrate the ten year anniversary since Queen Mary 2’s first ever visit to Australia. The spectacle will take place in Sydney Harbour which will provide the perfect backdrop for such a wonderful occasion.
