Silversea Orders New €310 Million Ship

Silversea Cruises have made a big announcement regarding their future fleet expansion plans as they have confirmed an order for a new ship to be built.

The agreement for a new ship was made with Fincantieri shipyard for a new 310 million ship that will debut in 2020. It will be a sister ship to Silver Muse with the official name being Silver Moon.

Not only this, but Silversea have also revealed plans of adding two more ships after Silver Moon launches, which will take their ship total to 12. A fleet of this size has always been the dream of owner Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio and it will give guests a wider range of choice with more itineraries to choose from.

Silversea’s chairman Lefebvre d’Ovidio has commented on the exciting news: “We had three options with Fincantieri and we’re exercising one at this time – a sister to Silver Muse. This will be the same as Silver Muse, with a few minor adjustments such as enhancing the restaurant areas. There will also be a few more surprises. My father always dreamed of 12 ships – this takes us closer to that. I interrupt his words to mean at least 12 ships, so we will keep growing. We have two more on option and they will be exercised as soon as we see further good signs from the market. We are very happy and the growth we’re seeing is very good.”

Silver Moon will purely devote itself to classic ocean cruising as opposed to expedition sailing. Silversea have revealed that there are plans to enhance their expedition cruising but this will not involve the new ship.

The new ship will be designed to prevent air and water pollution as it will have a “Green Star 3 Design” and it will feature a contemporary look similar to Silver Muse.

More information regarding Silver Moon will be released at a later date in which we will continue to publish as much details as possible.
