Exciting news has been announced by Princess Cruises regarding their growth plans, after it has been confirmed that they will be launching a new ship in October 2019.

The new ship will be named Sky Princess and it will be the sister ship to Royal, Regal and Majestic Princess, all of which are Royal-class cruise ships.

She will feature an enhanced design platform compared to her sister ships. Sky Princess will continue to offer popular venues and signature features that are found on their other ships, including a grand central Piazza-style atrium and popular dining venues such as the Salty Dog Grill, Alfredo‘s Pizzeria, World Fresh Marketplace, Vines Wine Bar and Chef’s Table Lumiere.

The group president of Princess Cruises, Jan Swartz, commented: “Sky Princess continues a Princess Cruises legacy and honours one of our previous ships. When Princess merged with Sitmar Cruises in 1988, Sky Princess joined our fleet and sailed with us for 12 years. Now more than 30 years later, a new Sky Princess will join the fleet featuring our modern design platform and contemporary innovations offered to exceed our guests' expectations.”

The inaugural season for Sky Princess will consist of Mediterranean sailings, with her maiden voyage being a 7-day cruise from Athens to Barcelona on 20th October 2019. Guests will have the option to either opt for the 7-day cruise or combine with the next 7-day sailing to create an incredible 14-day inaugural voyage.

Following on from the Mediterranean, Sky Princess will sail on to the Caribbean for the remainder of the Winter season.

Sky Princess will also feature the outdoor “Movies Under the Stars” theater, and 80 percent of all staterooms will have balconies. Finally, some exciting new innovations which will enhance the guest experience even further will be revealed in the coming months.
