Cunard Line have recently announced that Queen Victoria will undergo an extensive refurbishment to interior spaces onboard the ship. This refit will take place between 5th May and 4th June 2017 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

In order to carry out this refit, Queen Victoria will be taken out of service for a month to ensure that the work is done as quickly as possible.

A major redevelopment of staterooms will happen during this refit, as 43 midship staterooms will be transformed into Britannia Club staterooms meaning that guests staying in these staterooms will benefit from a dedicated Britannia Club Dining restaurant.

The staterooms will be enhanced with the addition of flat screen TVs, new carpets, soft furnishings, plus tea and coffee making facilities. Not only are the Britannia staterooms being redesigned, but there will also be a new appearance for the Grand suites and Penthouse suites. Cunard have revealed that five new Penthouse Suites will showcase floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for more outside light to enter the luxurious suites.

A new Chart Room bar will also be added to Queen Victoria during this incredible refit. This new bar will replace the current Café Carinthia and it will boast a wide selection of illy coffee, Godiva chocolate products and small snacks for guests to consume. This will be the perfect place to visit in the evening as it will offer refreshing cocktails too.

The final enhancement that will be made to the ship is a new “gin and fizz” menu that will make its debut in the Midships Lounge, where guests will be able to find various wines, proseccos, cavas and champagne, as well as gins and spirits.

Cunard’s Senior Vice President, Simon Palethorpe, commented: “For the first time on Queen Victoria, guests can enjoy an elevated experience with large, well-appointed balcony staterooms in prime locations and the new Britannia Club Restaurant will be the perfect setting for those who prefer a more intimate dining experience in one of the finest restaurants at sea.”

We will publish further details of Queen Victoria’s upcoming refit as soon as we have them from Cunard. This is a very exciting time for Queen Victoria and we look forward to seeing the brand new appearance for the luxury ship in the coming months.
