Sovereign’s two Assistant Managers, Charlotte Emery and Joanne Fenn, had the privilege of being invited to an exclusive evening in London with the Silversea Expeditions team and Conrad Combrink. A very informative talk was given based on Conrad’s personal experience and it has benefitted our team considerably in further enhancing our knowledge of Silversea Expedition cruises.
Charlotte and Joanne have kindly taken the time to write about what they have learnt from the event:
The evening was very insightful and gave us a real taste of what passengers can expect on an Expedition cruise.
We were told in detail about the exciting conversion of the Silver Cloud that is due to take place in 2017. She will not only make a great addition to the Expedition fleet, but she will also offer guests breath-taking new itineraries.
What can guests expect from these new itineraries? They can expect to visit some incredible destinations on Expedition cruises and Silversea’s aim is to immerse guests into ‘real life’, allowing them to experience diverse cultures from around the world. The aim of an expeditions voyage is to take passengers to places untouched by tourism and give them spectacular cultural experiences.
An expeditions itinerary can take up to 3 years to plan and Conrad Combrink told us about some of his journeys to find these exciting itineraries. He spoke to us passionately about how his travel has taken him to all seven continents and some of the world’s most remote destinations, including Antarctica, the South Pacific, Russia’s Far East, Alaska, North Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and West/North Africa. He told us that each year he spends many months researching new destinations and loves travelling to little-visited places to set up highly anticipated adventures for Silversea guests.
Guests can expect to visit destinations like Madagascar where 80% of the species found here are unique to the island. Guests can visit the Galapagos island where they can snorkel with sea lions, watch bellowing elephant bulls challenge each other in a spectacular display and view iguanas basking in the sun.
