Keel laid for Saga Cruises second river ship.

Saga Cruises have confirmed the construction of their second river cruise vessel Spirit of the Danube to join her sister Spirit of the Rhine. The 190-guest capacity vessel will feature two restaurants and sail the Danube river with her maiden voyage scheduled to depart from Amsterdam next year.

 

The ship’s keel-laying ceremony has taken place in Vahali’s shipyard in Serbia, marking the start of the ship’s construction, upon completion passengers sailing the Danube river with Saga will enjoy calls into Budapest (Hungary), Vienna (Austria) and Tulcea (Romania).

Celebrity chef Mark Sargeant will join selected cruises when Spirit of the Danube enters service. He will unveil a signature dish in one of the restaurants. TV presenter and natural historian Miranda Krestovnikoff, antiques expert Eric Knowles and horticulturalist Sir Roddy Llewellyn will join other Spirit of the Danube sailings.
