Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled plans for an exclusive, invitation-only private members’ club built around a purpose-designed superyacht, signaling the luxury marque’s latest expansion beyond the automotive world. Known as the Maybach Ocean Club, the concept was developed in partnership with luxury yachting company Splendid Sea and was formally revealed during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The initiative is designed to offer more than traditional yacht ownership or charter. Instead, the Maybach Ocean Club aims to establish a highly curated membership community, granting access not only to a newly built 30-suite superyacht but also to a network of like-minded individuals drawn together by shared values of craftsmanship, design, and exclusivity.

Under the proposed model, Splendid Sea and Mercedes-Maybach are seeking 300 co-owners. Each member would be entitled to spend up to four weeks onboard annually, combining the benefits of private yacht use with the flexibility of a shared-ownership structure.
At the heart of the concept is Beyond Horizons, a 15,000-gross-ton vessel conceived as both a floating sanctuary and an intimate social hub. The yacht was designed by German-based studio Dölker + Voges, working in close collaboration with the Mercedes-Maybach design team to translate the brand’s automotive design language into a maritime environment.
The vessel will feature 30 identical, residential-style suites, each measuring approximately 74 square meters and equipped with a private balcony. The ship’s architecture emphasizes open living, with more than 4,500 square meters of exterior deck space, including expansive sun decks and an infinity pool designed to enhance the sense of space and connection to the sea.
On its website, Mercedes-Benz describes the project as a natural extension of the Maybach brand’s heritage, noting its historical involvement in maritime engineering dating back to the 1920s.
“The brand drew on its visionary technical expertise to create engines that powered early automobiles, aircraft and boats,” the company states. “Today, the Maybach Ocean Club expands on this heritage, merging tradition with progress — in suites designed with dedicated precision, in gastronomy that celebrates artistry and excellence, and in wellness rituals created to harmonize body and spirit.”
Beyond the primary yacht, the project also includes plans for a 70-meter-long auxiliary support vessel, which will carry water toys, limousine tenders, and technical personnel, further enhancing the onboard experience and operational flexibility.
According to the project’s official website, membership in the Maybach Ocean Club will be offered strictly by invitation, following what the developers describe as a “discerning and carefully curated selection process.” Splendid Sea is currently in discussions with several European shipyards, with a construction contract expected to be finalized once early member commitments are secured.
The developers are targeting delivery ahead of an inaugural season in 2029. Planned deployment includes warm-water itineraries, with the vessel expected to operate in the Mediterranean during the summer months and in destinations such as the Caribbean or the Indian Ocean during the winter season.
