New Menus on Queen Mary 2

Cunard guests will soon be able to savour numerous new culinary experiences on board the flagship RMS Queen Mary 2.

Already renowned and acclaimed for creating some of the finest cuisine served in the most glamourous surroundings at sea, Cunard is introducing new dining options as well as a raft of enhancements to each of the liner’s existing restaurants during the ship’s major refit taking place in June.

Queen Mary 2 Remastered will see the creation of the entirely new Carinthia Lounge serving alternative breakfast and lunchtime offerings together with bespoke premium coffees; a new Verandah Restaurant evoking memories of the famous Grill on the original Queen Mary; a completely transformed Kings Court Buffet; new Queens and Princess Grill menus and completely refurbished restaurants for guests staying in the suites and a new Smokehouse alternative dining concept.

In addition, menus in the existing Britannia Restaurant and Golden Lion pub, together with Cunard’s famous Afternoon Tea selection served in the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, are all being refreshed.

Many of the new menus are being finessed during months of detailed research at a specially-commissioned new Development Kitchen which has opened in Cunard’s homeport of Southampton.

Here, teams of chefs have been working with other culinary experts and suppliers to create a wide range of new dishes to be served on board.


 

Carinthia Lounge 

Designed to elevate the flagship’s onboard experience through the addition of speciality Illy coffees, select teas and new culinary options, Carinthia Lounge will provide another level of refined relaxation for our guests.

A tranquil retreat by day, the serene lounge will provide the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends, or a good book, as well as enjoy light breakfast and lunch dishes. This new venue will feature a dedicated patisserie counter.

Breakfast: Organic Natural Yoghurt, Layered Berries, Granola Verrine  Eggs Florentine on a Toasted Buttered English Muffin with Sautéed Lemon Spinach and Shallots / Sour Dough Toast with Maple Cured Bacon, Scrambled Egg and Monterey Jack Cheese A selection of morning pastries

Kings Court, including our brand new Smokehouse alternative dining menu. 

Enhancements are planned to both the service and culinary offer in Kings Court with the transformed venue featuring new menus, the convenience of pre-set tables and waiter-served drinks.

Cunard chefs will take centre stage in the reimagined Kings Court as they showcase the remastered menus and the fresh, high quality ingredients at live cooking stations. Kings Court will offer much-desired informal dining options throughout the day; from enticing hot and cold buffet options to light snacks, afternoon treats and alternative evening dining cuisines on a rotating basis such as Indian, Italian, Pan Asian and Mexican as well as our brand new American BBQ concept called Smokehouse.

Kings Court Buffet Restaurant Example Dishes: Over 80 new lunch dishes and 50 new dinner dishes will be launched in our Kings Court buffet restaurant showcasing a variety of seafood and meat joints from King Prawns, Hot Smoked Salmon and Crab to steamships of Beef and Suckling Pig.

Witness the skill of our chefs as they create internationally inspired dishes throughout the voyage. Rotating showcase buffet menus will feature a variety of delicacies from noodles to sliders to assorted Sushi and Sashimi, contemporary Salads and traditional Ploughman’s lunches.

Smokehouse Example Dishes: 

Appetisers – Smokehouse Signature Nachos / Loaded Potato Skins / Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

Entrées – Slow Cooked Smoked Chipotle Beef Brisket* / Blackened Salmon  Memphis Style Baby Back Ribs / Buttermilk Fried Southern Fried Chicken


 

The Verandah 

Exactly 80 years after the first Verandah Grill went to sea on Queen Mary in May 1936, Cunard’s signature restaurant The Verandah makes its debut on board Cunard’s flagship, Queen Mary 2 in June 2016.

A celebration of fine, contemporary French cuisine with seasonal influences and specially selected ingredients, the menus will evoke the flavours of great regional cooking from southern France.
To bring the fullest flavours and greatest interest to these new dishes, our executive chef team have thrown their net a little wider when it comes to sourcing the ingredients. Alongside exceptional French produce such as Gascon Black Pig, Chalosse Duck and Bayonne Ham sit dishes that proudly showcase Highland Venison, Galician Beef and Amalfi Coast Lemons.

The combination of contemporary French cuisine, expertly sourced produce and exemplary White Star Service will create an extra special and memorable experience.

The Verandah will serve a fixed price Lunch ($20pp) and Dinner menu ($35pp). The new restaurant will launch on QM2 in June, with the menu rolling out to The Verandah on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria in the Autumn.

Main Course – Magret of Chalosse Duck, Yorkshire Rhubarb, Nave, Orange Fondant Rack and Shoulder of Dorset Lamb, Panisse Fritters, Nicoise Tapenade, Smoked Tomato Chutney Galician Aged Beef, Escargots and Bone Marrow, Pont Neuf Potatoes, Romensco, Marcona Almonds Wild Turbot en Papillotte, Skate and Mussel Cannelloni, Chilli Crevette Rose

Dessert – Amalfi Lemon Meringue / Chocolate Ganache and Tonka Bean Mousse


 

Queens & Princess Grill Restaurants 

Whilst Cunard Grills already affords our guests the most sophisticated dining experience at sea, following in the long tradition of Cunard Grills, we continue to strive for new standards of excellence for our most discerning of guests.

Responding to our guests’ desire for new choices and even more quality ingredients, we are delighted to be introducing a new evening menu designed exclusively for Cunard Grill guests in the Princess Grill and Queens Grill restaurants.

The new evening menu will delight with new ingredients and dishes developed exclusively for Grill guests such as Roast Saddle of Highland Venison and the traditional Cunard Grill signature dishes such as Grilled Dover Sole and Beef Wellington.

The new menu has been more than twelve months in the making and has already been launched onboard Queen Elizabeth. This has been entirely created and refined by our expert in-house development team that includes the culinary talents of chefs from each of our three Queens; Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

Appetisers – Arbroath Smokie and Leek Soup with Caviar / Devon Crab Cannelloni Braised Baby Fennel, Shellfish Cream and Sauce Vierge
