The iconic and majestic RMS Queen Mary 2 will take part in a transatlantic race to commemorate World War One.
Cunard’s flagship will be up against the world’s fastest yachts next summer when they race from Saint-Nazaire to New York. The race will last a total of 5 days and it will mark the hundredth anniversary of the significant event of the first landing in France by the US servicemen.
The race will begin on 24th June 2017 and Queen Mary 2 will carry 2,705 guests at a speed of 22-30 knots.
Out of the world’s fastest sailings yachts that are taking part, there is one yacht in particular that will prove a tough rival to Queen Mary 2 in the race. This yacht is the carbon-fibre Spindrift which currently holds an amazing record for being the fastest vessel to non-stop circumnavigate the globe in just 45 days, 13 hours and 43 minutes back in 2011.
This will prove to be an incredible race and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top. One thing is for sure that we will be cheering on Queen Mary 2 all the way!
