Silversea Cruises has unveiled plans to develop a luxury hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, to enhance its guests’ Antarctic expedition experience. The new property, set to be built in collaboration with a group of Chilean investors, is designed to support Silversea’s renowned Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program, offering travelers an unmatched level of comfort and convenience as they embark on voyages to the remote continent.

The 150-room hotel is projected to open by the end of 2025, to provide seamless, personalized service for guests. According to the company, this new facility will ensure a smoother journey for passengers by eliminating many logistical challenges associated with Antarctic travel.
The official groundbreaking ceremony was recently held, with representatives from Silversea, Chilean investors, and government officials in attendance. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, emphasized the significance of the development, stating, “This hotel marks a new chapter in our commitment to offering unparalleled expedition experiences. By collaborating with local partners, we enable our guests to discover one of the world’s most extraordinary and remote destinations.”
Silversea is currently the only cruise line homeporting from Puerto Williams during the Antarctic season, underscoring the strategic importance of the location. Positioned in the sub-Antarctic zone of Chilean Patagonia, Puerto Williams is the southernmost city in the world and serves as the ideal gateway for explorers headed to Antarctica.
Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea, highlighted the company’s focus on delivering an elevated travel experience. “We are excited to enhance our guests’ Antarctic journeys by creating an integrated and smooth transition to this remote region. This project solidifies Silversea’s leadership in luxury expedition cruising and reinforces our dedication to innovation and excellence.”
Situated along the picturesque Beagle Channel, the new hotel will boast stunning views of the surrounding Patagonian landscape, including the water and snow-capped mountains. Amenities will include a restaurant perfect for group events, a bar and lounge, a fitness center, and a gift shop showcasing locally-made handicrafts and art.
This development is expected to further differentiate Silversea’s offerings in the competitive polar travel market, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a leader in experiential luxury travel.
