The world’s most awarded luxury cruise line, Crystal Cruises, have made yet another huge announcement regarding their extensive expansion. It has been revealed that Crystal will launch a brand new vessel that will be optimised for expedition cruising and it will feature extreme amenities, very spacious penthouse suites and thrilling global itineraries. This new vessel will officially be the largest megayacht in the world when it enters service in August 2018.
This latest announcement from Crystal comes just a few months after the successful launch of Crystal Yacht Cruises with the 62-passenger Crystal Esprit making its grand debut into the luxury Crystal fleet. “Crystal Endeavor” will endeavor to offer passengers global expeditions in the Arctic, Antarctic and tropical conditions as the world’s first purpose-built polar class megayacht. It will consist of 100 guest suites and it will measure 600 feet (183 metres long). The vessel has been named after Captain James Cooks’ research ship “HMS Endeavour” which discovered Australia and New Zealand about 250 years ago.
Crystal President and CEO, Edie Rodriguez, has commented: “With Crystal Esprit, we discovered there are many guests, young and young at heart, who enjoy sports at sea and discovering remote islands. As the interests and age of luxury travellers increasingly vary, we will continue to expand our collection of luxury travel options. Luxury means something different to virtually everyone, and we strive to meet and exceed the wishes of the discerning modern luxury traveller. Crystal Endeavor will cater to a particularly daring audience, one who values luxurious comfort and amenities as much as life-changing adventures.”
During the summer and autumn months, Crystal Endeavor will cruise to Polar regions in medium “first year” ice which may also include ice inclusions. The megayacht will be purposely designed to access these areas with its PC6 Polar Class designation. The vessel will contain state-of-the-art offshore dynamic positioning technology with computer-controlled systems that automatically maintain the ship’s position with its own propellers and thrusters. By having this, Crystal Endeavor will be able to float above coral reefs and various other underwater wonders without having to use anchors which would normally damage the terrain. The ship will hover over sunken galleons, warships and passenger ships such as the Titanic at 12,500 feet.
Crystal Endeavor will offer a wide range of “toys” on board that are very rare on today’s megayachts. These “toys” include two helicopters with two landing pads for flightseeing expeditions, two seven-person submarines, eight electric amphibious zodiacs, jet skis, kayaks, wave runners, paddle boards, fishing facilities, snorkeling and scuba equipment for passengers to use. The world’s most technically advance and powerful underwater scooter called SEABOBs will also be available for guests to use.
In regard to the luxurious accommodation, the standard guest suites will be 400 square feet (including a balcony) which is larger than all current expedition and luxury cruise ships that exist today. In comparison, the megayacht’s two Owner Suites’ will be a whopping 3,122 square feet, making them the largest guest suites of any megayacht afloat. The Owner Suites’ will consist of a master bedroom, two guest bedrooms, indoor/outdoor living areas, private conservatory, private spa, gym, steam room, treatment room, garden and outdoor Jacuzzi. They can be linked to Penthouse Suites to provide even more space for guests.
Signature highlights on Crystal Endeavor will include Palm Court, which will boast 270-degree panoramic views for whale-watching and to view various other sea animals. There will also be a spa that features yoga, pilates, a salon, a wellness centre, Jacuzzis and an infinity pool whose base can be lifted to be a dance floor or an alfresco dining area. For guests who love a choice of dining venues, then you will be pleased as the yacht will feature six dining options with a wide range of cultural dishes. There will also be a 200-seat theatre, numerous lecture rooms, cinema, card room and a computer centre.
