Cunard has enlisted a former Special Forces operator to curate a programme of destination experiences.
Jay Morton*, who was deployed on multiple Tier 1 operations across a distinguished 10-year career in the SAS, has teamed up with the luxury cruise line to develop an exciting range of experiences in the Mediterranean.
The two-time Everest summiter is sailing on this week’s Mediterranean Adventure voyage as an Insight Speaker, but will also be playing an active role in researching, testing, and developing a variety of new shore-based activities for thrill-seeking guests in the Med.
The seven-night Queen Elizabeth sailing, which departed Barcelona on Monday (25 September), will take in the sparkling azure waters of the French Riviera, Pisa’s iconic UNESCO-listed leaning tower and Ibiza’s captivating old town of Dalt Vila.
On Friday, (29 September) Jay will take to the stage as an Insight Speaker, delivering an inspirational talk in the Royal Court Theatre titled Why We Adventure. He will share captivating tales of fighting in hostile environments as a Special Forces operator and stories of tackling life’s most extreme adventures, hoping to leave guests feeling more productive, more focused, and more motivated to realise their full potential.
Later in the sailing, Jay will hike to the summit of Mont Boron Hill in Villefranche, France as well as trek up the Monte Pisano mountain range near Pisa as part of his research process. Both activities offer stunning views of their respective landscapes and are genuine heart-pounding experiences.
