When it comes to places to explore and discover, sailing on a small ship has many advantages. It means we can get you closer to lesser-known ports, little islands and out-of-the-way harbours that larger ships have to sail past - like our visits to Margarita Island in Venezuela, Pori in Finland and the Bay of Roses in Spain. Saga Cruises itineraries can also take you to more places than you could ever see on a land-based holiday, as you wake up in a new port almost every day.
At each port of call, you can select from an exciting selection of optional excursions. These are usually exclusively for Saga guests, so the guide can focus solely on your group and only needs to speak in English. It is a great value way to view the sights - with entrance fees and transport included. A few weeks before your cruise we will send you a detailed Shore Excursions booklet that gives you the opportunity to pre-book excursions.
Alternatively, if you would like to explore independently at some ports, you can use the shuttle bus service completely free of charge. This will take you from the ship to the nearest town or city centre, where you can walk in or use the local transport. The choice is always yours!
